Client/ location: NTT Global Data Centres ENEA

Task: To apply new exterior coating system to12 individual ducting towers.

Issues: Our client faced a contractural hand over date, and with the added complexity of simultaneous operations within the area, we were presented with a timescale and deadline to complete the entire exterior of 12 industrial towers. Scaffolding would have pressed the timescale, and would exceed their budget, and other systems such as MEWPs and Powered Access were unable to reach the locations. Rope access was able to offer, quick, encompassing access and the ideal solution.

Solution: Steel Peaks provided a team of 12 IRATA qualified technicians to carry out the required painting programme specified by our client.

Various IRATA rope access techniques were used to grant access to all areas of the ducting towers. Our technicians we able to use surrounding structural steel work to rig ropes to allow Ascend and Descend techniques of rope access, where Aid Climbing techniques were used in other areas, to ensure a safe and meticulous operation.

All operations were carried out with a specific rescue plan, tailored to each task.

Steel Peaks Ltd holds combined liability insurance for high-level cleaning operations.

We are qualified IRATA rope access technicians and operate in accordance with the IRATA code of practice and BS 7985: Code of practice for the use of rope access methods for industrial purposes.
